Week of May 11th

Weekly Learning

Reading: The review point has begun in Fundations.  We will work with many skills from the first half of the year this week.  Please ask you child what we reviewed each day to see if they can explain the various rules we have learned.  Flowers Bloom is a short story that will focus our attention on new vocabulary as well as understanding what we read.  We will do a "Close Reading" of this text and look at key areas of the text to determine the meaning of new words through context clues and discussion.  We will read this story 4-5 times this week.

Writing: The Egg Journal will wrap up this week and be ready for Chick Night.  We are excited to show off what we have learned about eggs and chickens.

Math: Topic 14 continues the learning about data and graphs.  We will explore bar graphs, pictograph or picture graphs, and tally marks to collect data.  We will analyze data for comparison too.

Social Studies and Science: We have witnessed the the life cycle of a butterfly and will watch a video to compare our knowledge versus the information from the video.  Social Studies time will be spent working on making maps.
