Weekly Learning
Reading: Two syllable words with the es suffix will be introduced this week. This suffix will be added to our knowledge of ed and ing suffixes. Check Out My Bug Collection is a short story that will focus our attention on new vocabulary as well as understanding what we read. We will do a "Close Reading" of this text and look at key areas of the text to determine the meaning of new words through context clues and discussion. We will read this story 4-5 times this week.
Writing: The Egg Journal is underway. We will complete a weekly writing about the progress of the eggs and continue to monitor their development.
Math: Topic 16 will introduce and require us to practice fractions. This skill is best learned with food, so we plan to use some treats to help gain understanding about fractions.
Social Studies and Science: Living things will be everywhere. We are now embracing insects and eggs. Social Studies learning will use May 5th as a way to learn about traditions, Cinqo De Mayo.
