Week of March 9th

Weekly Learning

Reading: We constantly review previous learning and build on those skills.  This week we will learn about vowel consonant e words, which often means the e at the end of the word is silent and the vowel sound produces a long sound.  Our story for the week will be Daniel's Dinosaurs.  Comprehension is always our main focus from every reading, but we will emphasize demonstrating that understanding through writing and drawing about the key events in beginning, middle, and end of the story.

Writing: Recording our ideas in a journal will be our writing practice this week.  Proper capitalization, organization, punctuation, and spelling will be stressed as it has the entire school year.  Also staying on topic or one big idea throughout the writing will be an area we reinforce during journal writing.

Math: Topic 11 has us subtracting with one and two digit numbers.  Any practice at home with facts and place will go greatly reinforce the math concepts from the last month and prepare us for future learning.

Social Studies and Science: No switching for Science and Social Studies this week due to Parent Teacher Conferences.
