Weekly Learning
Reading: We are all glued together. Continued practice will take place this week with our long list of glued sounds of: /all/, /am/, /an/, /ang/, /ing/, /ong/, /ung/, /ank/, /ink/, /onk/, and /unk/. Please ask your child how to tap out words or look for words with these sounds. We will finish reading Chicken Pedro and the Falling Sky, during class this week. Understanding the characters, where the story takes place, what events transpired, and making inferences are the areas we will work on this week. We also hope to read a nonfiction piece titled, Night Sky (lexile level of 360).
Writing: Our seasons book is in nearing the final stages of completion. We are using the writing process of brainstorming, writing a first draft, editing and revising, and creating a final copy. The steps to the writing process are becoming more familiar and easier to work through. An emphasis has been placed and will continue to be placed on creating complete sentences that help the reader get mental pictures in their head as they read. Look for our capital letters, spelling, grammar, and punctuation to be improved since the beginning of the school year.
Spelling: Please check the spelling tab for the weekly current spelling words and trick words.
Math: Topic 6 and a review of our learning is underway regarding solving subtraction problems up to 20. Please check out the Xtramath or Sumdog websites to allow your child to practice at home in a fun way.
