Week of December 1st

Weekly Learning

Reading: More glued sounds are here.  We have a long list now including: /all/, /am/, /an/, /ang/, /ing/, /ong/, /ung/, /ank/, /ink/, /onk/, and /unk/.  Please ask your child how to tap out words with these sounds.  We will read Chicken Pedro and the Falling Sky. during class this week.  Understanding the characters, where the story takes place, what events transpired, and making inferences are the areas we will work on this week.

Writing: A seasons book is in the works.  After reading about the seasons, we will write about each season and create unique season books.  Look for our capital letters, spelling, grammar, and punctuation to be improved since the beginning of the school year.

Math: Topic 6 and a review of our learning is underway regarding solving subtraction problems up to 20.  Please check out the Xtramath or Sumdog websites to allow your child to practice at home in a fun way.

Social Studies and Science: We will not be switching for science and social studies during the month of December.
