Week of April 7

Weekly Learning:

Reading: We will reread Fire in Yellowstone (820 lexile level).  This is a non-fiction selection with great imagery and photographs to accompany the words.  We will use the text to support our ideas and answers while gaining knowledge about a fire that took place in Yellowstone National Park.  We will investigate why the author incorporated specific words and how those words impact the selection and our perspective of the story.
Spelling: Please check the spelling tab.
Writing: Writing a newscast will be our activity with this week.  We are using details and the main idea of different characters to create this newscast.  After writing and practicing, we will present this for the class.  Check out our Youtube channel to see the videos soon.
Math: Topic 12 just kicked off and is all about time.  We will tell and recognize time the hour, half hour, quarter hour, five minute interval, and to the minute.  We will also work with elapsed time.

Science: Ms. Hamker started the new science topics with rocks and soil for Earth Science.
