Weekly Learning:
Reading: We will read Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, by Roald Dahl (lexile 810). We will focus on reading for understanding with an emphasis on accuracy and fluency. We will discuss character traits or attributes, how those qualities affect a story, and summarizing chapters.
Spelling: Please check the spelling tab for words.
Writing: Still trying to finish our creative writings from two weeks ago about an imaginative trip to China. As that wraps up, we will begin writing about characters and rooms from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. We will emphasis using text evidence to create a clear picture in the mind of the reader.
Math: Topic 8 is focusing on division and explaining how division is the inverse operation of multiplication. We will use a variety of strategies to solve division problems including number sentences/models. Friday will be our topic 8 assessment. A review sheet will come home on Tuesday.
Social Studies: We will be using an atlas as well as our Social Studies book to read maps and practice reading many kinds of maps.
