Week of November 4th

Weekly Learning:

Reading: We are in the second week of reading Fantastic Mr. Fox (Lexile 600). We will continue to examine how the character influences the story and identify character feelings/actions and traits citing text examples.  We will also focus on the meaning of words based on contextual evidence and setting.  Looking for figurative or non-literal language is a skill we are incorporating with this book too.
Spelling: No spelling this week.
Writing: We have the last few students finishing Halloween stories.  Our focus has been incorporating adjectives and verbs to create a vivid and descriptive story for the reader.  After that, we will using writing time to focus on writing short answers to questions.  We will use part of the question to help us stay on topic and use text evidence to support our ideas.
Math: We are now investigating specific strategies to solve problems with factors.  We will focus on the factors of 2, 5, 9, 0, and 1.
Social Studies: Starting next week will be science with Ms. Hamker.
