Weekly Learning:
Reading: We will read Home Place (Lexile Level 760). As we read this text, we will examine how the character influences the story and identify character feelings/actions and traits citing text examples. We will also read many multiple meaning words and have to decide the definition using context clues and text evidence as support.
Spelling: Please the check the spelling tab at the top of the blog.
Writing: We will be writing friendly letters. Our focus will be having all required aspects of a friendly letter while conveying the message to someone in the past. We will include adjectives and verbs to create a vivid and descriptive story for the reader.
Math: We are preparing for a test over topic 5 of multiplication. We will play Jeopardy to review and take the test at the end of the week. Multiplication facts are still a focus in math class and students should be in the area of 40-60 correct on our 5 minute fact tests.
Science: Ms. Hamker is up for new science content this week. Students will start a journey with matter. We will explore this topic on our field trip next week at the Avon Lake Public Library's Discovery Works.
