Week of September 30th

Weekly Learning:

Reading: We will read Wild and Woolly Mammoths. We will focus on asking and answering questions as we read this story.  This is our first non-fiction text as well.  We will look for facts and details that are new to us.  We will take a comprehension quiz to assess our understanding of the story.  At the end of the week we will take another practice test to prepare for the Ohio Achievement Assessment.
Spelling: Please check the spelling tab for our words. We will also be practicing our words during guided reading time.
Writing: Almost all of the stories from the previous two weeks are done, almost.  This week we will practice responding to questions using evidence from texts and restating the question correctly in our answers.  Finished writings and books will be coming home this week, so please take time to read them with your son or daughter.
Math: We have moved on to solving three digit addition problems.  The kids did a great job yesterday with the concept and I look forward to seeing how they progress past addition into subtraction.  If your child had trouble with some concepts from the last unit, I will be reviewing those skills with them.  You may also see which lessons/concepts that had difficulty with by checking out the Pearson website.  Games and videos I have assigned may help them understand the topics.
Social Studies: I was wrong last week, our kids did not visit Ms. Hamker for Science.  They traveled to Mr. Provenza for Social Studies.  Ask them how the first day or two went.

I had fun in social studies with Mr. Pro.
I told my mom about wooly mammoths and that my favorite part of the story was learning about how big they were.

I went to the websites for fun link on the top of the page and had a great time! I laughed so hard with my mom making funny stories. The free rice game was hard, but i did ok. Hope my friends go on there too cuz they will have a lot of fun too.
