Weekly Learning:
Reading: We will read a chapter book for two weeks. Fantastic Mr. Fox will be a change of pace for our class as we have read shorter stories to this point. As we read this text, we will examine how the character influences the story and identify character feelings/actions and traits citing text examples. We will also focus on the meaning of words based on contextual evidence and setting.
Spelling: Please the check the spelling tab at the top of the blog.
Writing: We will be wrapping up our Halloween stories. Our focus has been incorporating adjectives and verbs to create a vivid and descriptive story for the reader. GETTING CLOSE!
Math: The first topic of multiplication is ending on Tuesday. We will not take a normal topic test since the topic was so short. However, we will take a story problem based assessment on Thursday asking us to demonstrate our knowledge multiplication using arrays, repeated addition, and words. After that is finished, we will turn our focus on using patterns to help learn and memorize our multiplication facts. The county Sumdog contest came and went with Erieview winning! We are now in the middle of the national contest. Check it out so you can see what animal your child is on the game.
Social Studies: Social Studies is wrapping up this week. Coming home soon will be an Avon Lake book each child created. Starting next week will be science with Ms. Hamker.
