Week of October 14th

Weekly Learning:

Reading: We will finish rereading So Say the Monkeys.  As we read this text, we will examine what a central message is and how to identify it by using key points of the story.  The setting of the story will be another aspect we highlight.  Once finished with the story, we will independently read a short story and answer questions to demonstrate our ability to determine a central message of a text.
Spelling: None this week!
Writing: We will be writing Halloween stories.  Our focus will be incorporating adjectives and verbs to create a vivid and descriptive story for the reader.  This process is underway and will take a few weeks.
Math: We are preparing for a test on Thursday.  We will review all of the addition and subtraction methods we have practiced the past 2 weeks.  Please let me know if anyone has questions before our test.  I will be working with everyone to review the various methods we learned.
Social Studies: Social Studies is moving along.  On Monday we went to the Avon Lake Cemetery as it directly relates to the heritage of Avon Lake.  Ask them how it went or check out the pictures on the blog. (coming soon!)

Dear Mr.Moore third grade has been
AMAZING! My favorite part is in math
when we get to play Jeopardy. I also like the math time tests too.
