Weekly Learning:
Reading: We will reread The Legend of the Persian Carpet. After one final reading, we will take a comprehension quiz to assess our understanding of the story elements. The rest of the week will focus on shorter myths/fables to continue our work on asking and answering questions while reading. We will also work together on a practice Ohio Achievement Assessment to help students become familiar with the format of the upcoming assessment.
Spelling: Please check the spelling tab for our words. We will also be practicing our words during guided reading time.
Writing: We are still working on our stories from last week. The kids have excelled at adding details and making the stories interesting. Be on the look out for a book next week.
Math: Reviewing mental math to solve addition and subtraction problems, estimating sums and differences, preparing for the second test will take place this week. MATH TEST ON THURSDAY, so please be sure to complete the review sheet and note any problem areas so I can be sure to help at school before the test. Please check out the Pearson website for extra practice or videos. You may also see scores of online quizzes your child has finished.
Science: The next concept will be adaptations to assist animals in surviving various environments. This will be the last week for Life Science in our room, but it may spill over to next week for a day. Starting next week, the kids will be visiting Ms. Hamker's room for Matter.

I really enjoyed reading The legend of the Persian carpet and King Midas and the golden touch. I also enjoyed writing our story. Tonight's homework wasn't too bad either. I think you are a really good teacher and I love your ties.
Sincerely,
Rebecca
